NIIT to offer training in emerging sectors like retail

NIITDelhi-based NIIT, the leading global talent development company, is looking at new avenues to provide training the country’s youth that will prepare them to meet the the needs of emerging sectors of economy like retail, says a HT Mint report.

Apart from providing training in sectors like banking, insurance, transport, and manufacturing, NIIT, which was founded in 1981, has for over 25 years mainly served the training needs of talent hungry software industry. NIIT besides offering training to individuals also arranges training programmes for professionals, schools, colleges and enterprises.

With training facilities, spanning 42 countries across the world, NIIT can leverage its superior skills and experience to extend scope of its learning solutions to newly emerging sectors of economy like retail.

Various studies undertaken by trade bodies and employers have placed requirement of trained manpower in the retail sector to be around nine million.

Over the years, NIIT has developed a highly successful franchisee-based business model of creating a network of high quality training schools across the length and breadth of the country. Apart from providing training in IT, NIIT has among othes also developed training programmes for call centres, sales, financial services and entrepreneurship management.

“We are looking at training of manpower for retail, hospitality and healthcare industry,” said Vijay Thadani, CEO, NIIT. “NIIT would seek to partner, a domain expert, an industry or a consulting partner,” added Rajendra S Pawar, Chairman, NIIT.

NIIT Imperia is NIIT’s new training initiative in academic association with IIMA, IIMC, and IIMI. Under this initiative, it has created a Centre for Advanced Learning to provide quality management education to working professionals taking in view their aspirations and their constraints. NIIT has made arrangements with the IIMC, under this initiative, to provide an education programme in retail management for middle management personnel.
