American consumers, who till recently were in awe of cheap Chinese products, are now increasingly worried about the dangers posed by them to the safety and well being of their near and dear ones. Even the media has now begun taking notice of such threats and started cautioning the consumers about dangers to their safety.
Retail stores, in the U.S., on advice of regulatory authorities, were forced to recall a number of cheap but potentially dangerous products made in China. These recalls were made on advice of regulatory agencies concerned with health and safety of consumers. The high profile recalls, in recent months, of potentially poisonous pet foods and lead paint coated baby toys, represent only a small part of overall recalls in the past one year.
An American website after painstaking search of official product recall records has created an interesting timeline of the recalls of faulty and/or dangerous products that were imported in the U.S. from China.
Fire Hazard Heaters, Badly Wired Fans, Dangerous Candles, Flammable Lamps, Toxic Jackets, Toxic Fish, Lead Rings, Bracelets and Necklaces, Baby Toys, Poison Pet Food, Kerosene Eyeballs, Flammable Baby Clothes, Toxic Drums, Deadly Cribs, Poisonous Toothpaste are among the Chinese products that were recalled in the past twelve months. Complete listing, of such recalls can be viewed at the whosucks? website.
China known as ‘production factory of the world,’ while obsessed with producing huge volumes at low costs, has not been known to be conscious of implementing strict safety standards in its factories.
