Essar Telecom Retail has planned to undertake massive expansion of its mobile retail network. According to a PTI report, the company has decided to increase its network over 8-fold from 300 outlets at present to 2,400 outlets in the next three years. During the current fiscal the stores tally is expected to reach 750.
This growth will also help it increase its annual turnover from Rs. 800 crore this year to Rs. 4,000 crore in three years.
During this period, the company would have increased its presence from 35 cities to 600 towns and cities and increased personnel strength from 2,000 persons to between 12,000-15,000 persons. During the current fiscal the number of employees are expected to go up to 5,000.
“We plan to have our footprint virtually in every major town in every state across the country,” said Rajiv Agarwal, CEO and Director, Essar Telecom Retail.
“High rentals and space were a concern for the company as it expands its network across the country as rentals in prime locations were too high,” said Agarwal.
