In a bid to protect the interests of consumers, in retailers and traders in state of Kerala will henceforth be not allowed to refuse exchange or return of sold merchandise.
Through an official press release, the state government has instructed retailers/ traders to remove the condition of `goods once sold will not be taken back or exchanged,’ from their sales invoices (both credit and cash).
The directive warns of stringent action against those who violate this order. The action will be taken under Consumer Protection Act, say the release.
According to the release the Commissioner of Commercial Tax has been given directives in this regard.
