Apart from incorporating B2B model of business to ‘Sangam Direct,’ the direct to home retiling channel, acquired from Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL), Wadhwan Food Retil, the owners of Spinach retail chain of food & grocery business is beting big on hospitality sector. This was revealed by group director Kapil Wadhwan, while talking to DNA Money.
While, Aurus, the flagship fine dine lounge brand has already transformed the fine dining experience in Mumbai, the company has also set up a state-of-the-art central kitchen which besides having a facility to make over 10,000 meals a day, has a bakery that serves needs of the group’s retail chains to meet their requirement of baked products.
Wadhwans have signed a master license agreement with Jumeirah Group’s Jumeirah Branded Restaurants with a view to provide innovative lifestyle experiences to Indian consumers. The group has decided to open 35 Noodle House restaurants in India. Three of these noodle restaurants will go on stream in the cities of Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai in this fiscal by March, 2007.
Jumeirah Group, a part of Dubai Holdings owned by the Dubai Government, is an international luxury hotel chain, the portfolio of which includes the world-famous Burj Al Arab, world’s third-highest hotel Jumeirah Emirates Towers, and the Wild Wadi Water Park. While the majority of Jumeirah’s hotels are based in Dubai, they are expanding aggressively overseas, including hotels in Bermuda, China, Jordan, Qatar, Thailand and the United Kingdom.
The group has planned to grow into the business of dish hospitality further by setting up a chain of its own format of quick service restaurants (QSRs).
Wadhwans are also in talks with a few international master franchisers for arrangements for India. The group likely to make a few announcements in this regards soon.
