Reliance to launch four new formats in 2008

Having already launched eight formats, Reliance is looking at launching four new formats during 2008.

Among the eight formats are its flagship food and grocery brand Reliance ‘Fresh,’ hypermarket brand Reliance ‘Mart,’ speciality formats for consumer durables Reliance ‘Digital,’ apparel Reliance ‘Trendz,’ footwear Reliance ‘Footprint,’ healthcare & wellness products Reliance ‘Wellness,’ jewellery Reliance ‘Jewels’ and time keeping products Reliance ‘Timeout,’

Reliance has also recently unveiled Relince ‘Super’ a mini mart format in the heart of the temple city of Amritsar. The new store, spread over retail space of 13,500 sq ft, is located at the City Centre in Suraj Chand Tara cinema. The mini-mart will offer ove 10,000 products in every category. Besides, food and grocery and farm fresh items, Reliance Super will also stock Apparel and Accessories,  Non-food FMCG products, Consumer Durables and IT, Automotive Accessories, Footwear, health and wellness, and Home Care Products. Among premium lifestyle category, Reliance Super will also stock fashion and fine jewelry.

Among the new formats during 2008, Reliance hopes to adds stores for Home Improvement, Furnishing and Reliance Furniture, and Business-to-Business (B2B).

Reliance has already tried a B2B format called ‘Ranger Farm’ in some areas like Hyderabad. They mostly sell fresh products in the wee hours of the morning to small traders and push cart (street) vendors.

Reliance Retail is said to be in talks with the $10 billion retail giant Li & Fung from Hong Kong for sourcing soft goods, including furnishing products.
