Pantaloon adds 23 stores, 700K sq.ft. in space, 63% in sales and 93% in PBDIT during Q2

Pantaloon Retail, the flagship company of Kishre Biyani owned Future Group, has opened 23 stores and added 700,000 sq. ft. of retail space during the second quarter ended 31st December, 2007. Thus, overall space occupied by the company as at end of the quarter has increased to 6.7 million sq.ft.

Currently, Pantaloon having multiple retail formats in both the value and lifestyle segments, operates over 1,000 outlets (including shop-in-shops) across 53 cities in the country and employs over 25,000 people.

During the quarter under review, while the company registered an increase of 62.9% in its income (1226.75 crore) from operations over the same quarter in the previous year (752.68 crore), its PBDIT increased by 93.06% to Rs. 110.93 crore. However, Net Profit of the company dipped from Rs 43.97 crore to Rs 31.65 crore, during the quarter. This was due to the non-inclusion of the profit made on the sale of investments last year amounting to Rs 37.32 crore.
