Tata Ceramics launches retail initiative; opens first exclusive branded store in Pune

Tata Ceramics Limited, which manufactures a wide range of ceramic products like flatware ceramics (Dinner plate, Dessert plate, Saucer) and holloware ceramics (Vegetable Dish, Oatmeal, Sugar Pot, Creamer, Coffee/Tea Cups and Pots, Salad Bowl etc.) in plain as well as fluted shapes, under the brand name of CERA, launched its first exclusive branded store in Pune on Friday, the 8th August, 2008.

The Cochin-based Tata group company, which is part of Tata Power Limited, exports a large number of its fine bone china pottery and table ware products to Australia, Canada, Germany, Ireland, Italy, South Korea, New Zealand, the UK and the US. Wedgewood, Royal Doulton, Richard Ginori, and Churchill are among the famous international brands that source their requirements from the company.

Apart from consumers worldwide, Tata Ceramics is also supplying its produce to institutional buyers. It has recently begun focusing on hospitality sector.

For its retail operations in Maharashtra and Goa, the company has made distribution arrangements with Pune-based G.V. Puntambekar and Sons. It is looking for similar arrangements elsewhere in the country. The company, according to its Managing Director Munish Gupta, is expecting to pan out retail operations across the country in the next 12 to 18 months.

Tata Ceramics, which achieved sales of Rs 35 crore last year, is looking at adding another Rs 12 crore from domestic sales in the next two years.
