Its a shocking news that Big bazaar had to closed down two of its stores in Ahmedabad. ‘Hope it is not on account of poor sales. Can anyone throw some light on why and how this happened.

The store was shut down not because on account of poor sales, but because three years’ lease period of the property had expired. The company is considering to open more outlets across the country
Further, the company has decided to merge its Bapunagar store with another store at Kankaria. This will result in expansion of the later from 60,000 sq feet to 1,10,000 sq feet

Is retail business in India under pressure with the closure of two big bazar outlets in Ahmedabad? What happened with demand forecasting in this case?

i think it is right startegy , after doing a proper study of market they can hire some specialist retail proffessionals and can do buisness with low cost. but i m not in for if they are thinking to close down the buisness . because it will hamper the image of organisation as well as kill some fixed cost.

The Indian shopping malls are mainly concentrating on location & interior decoration rather than products, design, and pricing. It will take long to provide western way of shopping.
