‘Pizza Hut’ goes in for image makeover; renames few outlets as ‘Pasta Hut’

October 10th, 2008 · No Comments

“I am confident that people will like what they see when they come into our restaurants.” Alasdair Murdoch, Head- Pasta Hut.

Pizza Hut, the world’s largest selling pizza restaurant chain, has renamed 30 of its restaurants in the U.K. to “Pasta Hut.”

The experimental change, which has been done to promote healthy eating, came into effect from 1st April, 2008, says ANI. The quick-service restaurant chain has decided to spend £100 million ($173 million) on the image makeover.

The retail chain is introducing healthier food for ‘big nutritional changes.’

Apart from offering a selection of pasta items on the menu, the children’s menu has been revamped to include ’hidden vegetables,’ along with complimentary side salad.

While, the health conscious food seller is removing hydrogenated vegetable oils from its menu, it is also undertaking an initiative to remove unhealthy saturated fats.

Pizza Hut has planned to revamp interiors of its 700 restaurants in the UK in 2009 and 2010.

Some analysts have attributed the change to higher cheese and flour prices, which have lowered the margins on pizza products, and stagnating pizza sales.

To reflect the seriousness of the makeover and new food focus, Pizza Hut has changed the logo on its headquarters building in Dallas, Texas.
