Reliance Retail, the retail arm of Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance group, according to a PTI report, has rubbished the reports of retrenchment of its employees, saying there was no plan to handover pink slips to employees.
“We would categorically deny reports of retrenchment of staff undertaken by Reliance Retail,” said a company spokesperson.
We had earlier today carried a post based on an NDTV report speculating non-renewal of 1,200 jobs, mostly of whom are employed as DSAs (direct sales agents) but are not on payrolls of the company.
“Reliance Retail has been expanding its operations across the country. In fact, in the last 15 days, we have opened several new stores across our various formats including Reliance Mart, Reliance Footprint and Reliance Timeout in key markets,” the spokesperson added.
In the past the company had, however, said it would cut jobs after it had faced opposition to operations in states, including Uttar Pradesh and Orissa, says the report.

Reliance retail is forcing employees to resign instead of retrenching them. There is forced retrenchment and it is quite evident if one visits the offices of Reliance retail in all states

It is very true that reliance retail is mercilessly asking people to submit resignations. No specific reasons are given. There is no transparency in the process and nobody has any idea about the basis on which retrenchment is done.

Even Pantaloons is doing the same thing. They are citing lack of demand, tough conditions, I wonder how they can show continous profits and still ask employees to go. It’s all about making Investors fool.
